An Upcoming Author
Zara Elise Thelms
My name is Zara Elise Thelms. I am a young author following the passion for writing I have had since I was six. I write science fiction, realistic fiction, and dramas. I plan to being publishing on Amazon Kindle within the next two months. I portray strong messages in my stories without too much symbolism. I love talking to people and listening to their critiques on my writing. My one true passion is to write and I one day hope to have full length novel published.
Author Interview
How long have you been writing? When did you decide to become an author?
I have been writing since I was six. It’s always been a passion of mine, whether my stories be about Katie Lee who forgot her lunch on the first day of school (which I am proud to say I still have a wrinkled copy of) for about a troubled young woman who finds herself living on the streets. But from day one I knew I wanted to write – because writing makes me happy.
How do you find inspiration?
I find my inspiration in a lot of things: by watching people interact, by watching human behavior, from watching the news. And sometimes the stories will just come to me. Dark Clouds with Silver Linings came to me while I was getting my lunch at school one day.
How do you go about writing a book? Do you have any schedule, tricks or tips to share?
I am terrible at schedules. I can’t even follow a school schedule very well. I always work on multiple projects at once and rotate through them. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it works for me. This way, when I’m rotating through them, I don’t run myself into the ground working on one thing. I have a chance to change topics and keep my mind fresh with ideas. I also try and write a decent portion – maybe three pages – and then print it out and go through and make changes, correct and errors. This makes editing easier, you’re doing it in several sections rather than all at once.
What are you currently working on?
Presently I am working on Dark Clouds with Silver Linings, Missing, and So Nice to See the Sky. Dark Clouds has been adopted as my main project for the time being. Missing is about a young girl who lives in Western Europe who finds herself being sold into sex slavery. So Nice to See the Sky is about a cancer patient who hasn’t had his chance to live, so he wants to know, if he had made it past his 19th birthday, what he would have wanted to do in life.
Dark Clouds With Silver Linings
Rose Montgomery is the daughter of two Professors – both with multiple degrees in science, math, English, and history. Because of this, she has been forced to achieve academic excellence from a young age. She has never been given the opportunity to explore her own wants, instead being forced to compete in her parents’ preferred fields of study. Feeling so much pressure from her parents during her senior year of high school and having to inwardly deal with her sister’s mental breakdown, she falls into the dark world of depression, anorexia, sex, and drugs.
