Marie McGaha
Marie McGaha is the publisher/editor at Dancing With Bear Publishing, a Christian publishing company. While most of her time is spent editing manuscripts, she does try to find time for her passions. First, the love of her life, Nathan, whom she has been married to for almost fifteen years, and loves to spend time with riding motorcycles. They are both members of The Patriot Guard Riders. She and Nathan also like to spend time spoiling grandchildren, traveling, and just being together. Marie also cares for a plethora of animals on her little farm in SE Oklahoma, and when she has a chance, she likes to try and write a little bit.
“Nathan is my best friend, and I am very blessed to have him as my husband too,” Marie says. And everyone who knows them says it’s quite obvious these two are living out their own romance novel.
Author Interview
How long have you been writing? When did you decide to become an author?
Before I could even write, I made up stories all the time. When I could write, I began writing stories on paper and English was always my favorite subject. I think I’ve always known I would write, and wrote my first full-length story in the 8th grade.
How do you find inspiration?
Inspiration is easy, It’s everywhere around me and especially in my past. I’ve lived a really weird but full life, so I have lots to draw on.
How do you go about writing a book? Do you have any schedule, tricks or tips to share?
I’m a pantster! I never use any technique, bubble thought, or outline. (I hope my English teachers aren’t reading this!) I usually play it out in my head and then start writing it down.
What kind of books do you read? Who is your favorite author?
I really enjoy reading the Alex Cross series from James Patterson. Unfortunately, I don’t really have time to read except for my Bible.
What are you currently working on?
I’m trying to finish the second book in my Comfort & Joy series. The first one is on forgiveness and this one is on marriage.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Invisibility! I could go anywhere & do anything!
Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what kind of music?
I like what is now called “Classic Rock” but my taste in music is eclectic. Although I usually have the TV droning in the background when I write.
Who is your favorite villain?
Hannibal Lector -he is so evil, yet brilliant. I love him!
If you had to pick between receiving a million dollars today, or $1000 a month for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
A million today. We don’t know when we might leave this earth, so it would be nice to be able to leave money for my kids.
If you could take anyone out for coffee, dead, alive, or fictional, who would it be?
Abraham Lincoln. I think he’d be so interesting to chat with.
