Today Lovely Books Shines The Author Spotlight On…
Amber Daulton
Writing is the fruit to happiness.
Amber Daulton lives her life by that one belief even though she normally isn’t so Zen.
Author of five novellas—Forever Winter, A Hero’s Heart, Lightning over Bennett Ranch, Mistletoe in the City and to-be-released Cinderella’s Enchanted Night—she published her first book in 2012 and hopes to publish countless more in the future.
She lives in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina with her wonderful husband and their five crazy kitties. As a fan of contemporary, paranormal and historical novels alike, she can’t get enough of feisty heroines and alpha heroes. Her mind is a wonderland of romance and adventure, laughter and awesome ways of kicking a guy when he’s down. She probably wouldn’t be too sane without her computer and notebooks. After all, what’s a girl to do when there are people jabbering away in her head and it’s hard to shut them up? Write! Nothing else works.
Author Interview
How long have you been writing? When did you decide to become an author?
I’ve been writing professionally since I was 26, about three years now, but I’ve wanted to become an author since I was twelve after sneaking a Harlequin book out of my mom’s bedroom.
How do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration by looking at the world around me. What going on in the news, with my friends and family, reading books and watching movies. A lot of story ideas come from dreams and my imagination can be very vivid.
How do you go about writing a book? Do you have any schedule, tricks or tips to share?
I like to daydream first, then plot–either on paper or the computer, doesn’t matter–and I start to write even if I don’t know where the story is going. Most of the time, I get ideas along the way and the story writes itself. I don’t have much of a schedule. I try to write a little every day and, if I can’t, I always think about the story and try to plot it out.
What kind of books do you read? Who is your favorite author?
I love all genres of romance. My favorite authors include Maggie Shayne, Christine Feehan, Stephanie Laurens and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on the last book of a romantic suspense trilogy. I have a sneaky suspension this trilogy will become a series since ideas for four more books are forming in my head, so who knows what will happen!
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I’d love to fly like Wonder Woman and have her strength to kick some serious butt!
Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what kind of music?
Nope, music distracts me and I tend to get lyrics stuck in my head for days. Which means days of no writing.
Who is your favorite villain?
I don’t really have a favorite villain in film, books or TV. If there’s a bad guy, though, you can be sure I’ll hate him.
If you had to pick between receiving a million dollars today, or $1000 a month for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
Hmmmm??? Depends on whether it’s non-tax deductible. lol. I’d probably just pick the million.
If you could take anyone out for coffee, dead, alive, or fictional, who would it be?
I’d take Acheron from Sherriyln Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series. He may not drink coffee, or eat and drink much of anything, but I’d love to pick that man’s brain and stare at him for hours.
